Homelessness referes to situations in which people
lack regular and customary access to adequate and appropriate conventional housing. A homeless person is someone who has no
regular place to live stays in an overnight emergency shelter, an abandoned building, an all-night coffee shop or theatre,
a car, outdoors, or other such places not meant to be living spaces. `Many of the homeless have become disconnected fromt
heir families andn communities. There are also those who have not been able to find or keep jobs. Homelessness can affect
people eof any age, gender, or ethnic background. Homeless can be "normal people" who have fallen through the safety net.
Yet in spite of a publick recognition of high unemployment, on the street the homeless remain an embarrassment and continue
to be seen as transients, derelicts, "dirty" and generally not worth of one's attention.Despite Toronto's strong economy,
many people in need of affordable housing are being left behind.

Why do youth become homelessness?
There are many reasons why young people may become homeless or at risk of being homeless. Most reasons
are related to early home leaving which can be precipitated by:
- Abuse: sexual, physical, physiological - Adoption breakdown - Family distress -
Family loss of housing - Behavioral or emotional issues - Mental health & substance abuse -
Pregnancy - Discharge from foster care, group homes or treatment centres - Educational difficulties -
Lack of assess to affordable housing - Difficulty attaining or sustaining employment that provides a living wage
